A local painter opens up her art studio & home.
Dorinda raised her twin girls in Medway and has lived here for almost 40 years. In the back of her historic home, is her studio where she paints both in oils and pastels. She has done some commissioned work, but mostly does this for the love of it.
A collection of her portraits from many years line the walls of her studio. With the exception of a few of her daughters, her subjects are unknowns. Dorinda finds pictures in magazines or books that intrigue her to work from.
Her tools
Dorinda's most recent oil painting, below, done in early 2015 "Entering Quietly" is framed in a yard sale find frame and painted on a piece of plywood she had cut to fit, she then primed with gesso.
In the 1970's Dorinda asked this man, below, if she could take his picture. She loved the way he looked and was inspired to do a portrait. She just knew of him as the bus driver who also made his own leather goods.
Thanks for looking. I'd love to know what you think.
